Barceló Santo Domingo

Customer service from front desk are exceptional! Especially females employees they work very hard and they give the best customer service. Also, we received a wonderful service from personal of the breakfast section, housekeeping and the door service gentlemen they are always welcoming with a great smile and kindly and polite hospitality.

The hotel is good but the rooms are a little old and dated and it probably does need an upgrade. The room is big and comfortable enough though. The hotel has a nice pool and the gym is also good and quite well equipped. The location isn’t close to any of the tourist attractions but Uber is very affordable so it was easy enough just to uber places.

My stay was great. It would been perfect if not for one problem, there was humidity in the room so much that you can smell it. I opened the window to see if letting a little bit of fresh air in would help but it didn't. I don't if it was the carpets or what but I think that was the only problem I had with the place. Other than that all good.

if you are traveling for business I think the Barcelo is the best in Santo Domingo. I have stayed in other places that charge more and offer less. Pool is also nice and if you book a superior room you have access to the 9th floor terrace. (Superior rooms still less than other hotels.) If I am traveling for work I will always stay here. Super reliable Spanish chain that offers way more than American hotels (Hilton) where everything is an add on and prices are higher. This hotel is also a good stop in Santo Domingo if you are traveling elsewhere in the DR. Staff is nice.
